Accompanied by poems these 2 works below are the beginning of a series of collage-like figures, composed of overlapping bodies, limbs, and fragments of skin, all wrapped within black and blue fabrics. A human form filled with human forms as a symbol for all the things our bodies hold. Memories, identities, rules, rigid frameworks, almost bursting as we negate the transformative nature of our existance. The basic for this work is a simple sketch of a head which i filled with accumulating layers of my AI model in the attempt to create a visual metaphor for the complexities of living in bodies shaped by both personal histories and societal expectations.
i can still
smell the scent of sunscreen on skin
mixed with sweat
i can still
hear the joyful shrieking of children
at the sound of the ocean
meeting the beach
i can still see the seagulls circling
ready to steal my food
so i hold very still
in the hope
that summer won’t notice yet,
that it’s autumn
I like the night
it’s so quiet
and calm
and collected
unlike my thoughts
they grow
and bloom
and race and chase
each other all over the place
in the night
and i cannot write
fast enough
to pin them all down
